A shared universe or shared world is a set of creative works where more than one writer (or other artist) independently contributes a work that can stand alone but fits into the joint development of the storyline, characters, or world of the overall project. It is common in genres like science fiction.

While the idea that any comic publisher could be “the next Marvel†or any new Cinematic Universe, the next MCU is as unlikely as a plan for an interrelated series of films focusing exclusively on superhero-driven entertainment, starting with a film adaptation of a second tier comic book character, completely unknown to the general public, starring a once promising actor who’d fallen into drug and alcohol addiction, given to a director as his fourth film, with double the budget of his last film and more the his first three combined, being the flashpoint of a industry redefining success, the MCU’s multi billion dollar success ensures investors will keep trying to crack the code.
